What if you got a second chance with your first love? What happens when you meet your teenage heart-throb – when you’re both all grown up? When Cassie was fifteen, all she wanted was to marry Jesse Franklin, the bassist from her favourite band, Franko. Now she’s single, in her late twenties and wondering what happened to that teenage dream. A chance encounter on Facebook soon leads to a transatlantic hook up, and soon, Jesse and Cassie are having a long-distance love affair spanning five thousand miles. Cassie is on cloud nine – until she hears something that makes her think that Jesse might not be all that he seems. They say never meet your heroes – but what happens when you fall in love with them…? Are Cassie and Jesse star crossed lovers, destined to be together? Or should Cassie have left her crush in the box marked ‘teenage memories’? Previously published as Getting Over Jesse Franklin, this brand new edition has had extensive editorial changes. ‘It is romcom writing at its best; dreamy with nostalgia, with a strong, funny and relatable female protagonist and a super sexy leading man. I just loved it! Lia Louis – author of Somewhere Close to Happy
I received a digital advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
“Hey I just met you.. and this is crazyyyyy but here’s my number.. so call me maybeeee!” So, now that that is stuck in your head for the next 72 hours.. on to the review!
This was such a cute book. I think most women, especially from the boyband era, would love for this to happen to them. I know if it were me, I would have no issues being Mrs. Taylor Hanson right now.
I loved how light and fluffy this book was. It was such an easy and adorable read. I felt Cassie was super relatable and easy to connect to. It annoyed me that she was a bit self absorbed about her relationship. Everything was about them. I really would have liked to know more about the other characters too.
Regardless, i was a giggly mess through this whole book. It had me reliving all of my love for boy bands. I wish the book had been longer, it would have made for a better story. The ending kinda just creeps up on you. It does give me hope that there might be a book two!
This is one of those romantic reads you just have to get your hands on! While you are reading, I’m going to go send Taylor Hanson a friend request.. Wish me luck!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to review this title.
